Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted January 13, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 13, 2004 To my knowleadge, these days you can mix and match parts from Tiffen. How much heavier do you want to go? The SK comes with a single articulated isoilastic arm, range: ~9 to 19 lbs. But you can also use the ProVid arm which is virtually the same style arm, just with 2 articulated sections, range: ~15 - 26 lbs. Also you can order the Arm and the Vest with the standard Socket block versus the wired pin... It just comes down to the fact: CAN you balance the heavier Camera on your rig as the Center post does not telescope, DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH BOTTOM WEIGHT. I'm not sure if you can adapt the ProVid or the ProVid2 Post to your SK... At which point it could actually be cheaper to just go to the higher/next model... I would give Tiffen a call and talk to a tech, to figure out what you actually need, Go to one of there show rooms and try it out or contact a more experienced Operator that either also uses the same rig or the next one up... Just an idea. Erwin Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com

Premium Members JobScholtze Posted January 15, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2004 Yes, a provid arm and a provid post will fit to the sk2, regarding this photo. I mean, it sure looks like a telescope post.
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted January 15, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2004 Job, Very nice Picture... But how the hell are you going to plug that camera into the J-Box not to talk about to get 24 Volts to the Camera... Just wondering... About Telescopic Post: I had a discussion with James Livingston back when he was still at Tiffen, we took a couple of rigs a part and If I don't remember wrong... The parts from the SK2, ProVid and ProVid2 were universally interchangeble... Scary.

James Livingston
Irwin, You're almost there. The SK2 and the Provid lower post plugs are not quite the same. The alignment pins on the Provid are spread further apart. It is an easy task to get a Provid post on an SK sled: remove the pins. The electrical connections are the same. What I don't understand is why??? The picture has a Provid arm and post. What is the benefit of removing the provid lower sled to go to a cheaper monitor. Maybe it was a back-up. Anyway, I hope this helps. James
