Yet another monitor arm question...

I had a Chrosziel monitor arm on my first Steadicam. The arm let you put the monitor almost everywhere but keep in mind that Ted Churchill designed this arm for CRT monitors. Also I remember the arm was not very stable. Second rig had Baer-Bel´s first arm with two different post lengths. Not very versatile. Now I have BB´s latest monitor mount and find it very sturdy and well worth the price. (Disclaimer: No, I don´t work for Markus :-)) Was not mentioned so far. So I think I just throw in my 2ct.

I gave my new PRO monitor arm extension a test run today and it worked great! It's super stiff and works perfectly with a flat screen monitor. It's well worth the 350 bucks.

My new general shooting configuration is this: Boland 8.4" Daybright, PRO monitor arm extension, Hytron 140 in the monitor slot and two Hytron 50's in the camera power slots. This config comes the closest to replicating the balance and dynamic balance properties of the factory PRO green screen set up but gives you the advantage of a super large, sharp, color, hd monitor and with the Hytron 140 up front, you can literally leave the monitor on all day if you want and never change the battery.

On today's shoot I went through nine X 400' mags on a Arri 235. We shot about 50% of the days work at 60fps, about 25% at 40fps and the remaining 25% at 24fps. With that config and that amount of film at those frame rates I used the same 3 batteries all day (about a 14 hour day). The 140 still had 2 pie at wrap.

I had already wrapped most of my stuff when I remembered to take a picture, I'll try and remember a fully built rig picture on my next job.
