He now as a digital version of his fabulous M1 motor to work with systems like the Preston. He also has two smaller motors (one analog and one digital) meant for iris pulls or less stiff lenses. For my purposes, the niftiest new toy was his adapter for Preston motors. Via the three small screws that you normally attach your adapter gears to your Preston motors, you add a small piece. Now you can use the same snap on gears that the M1 uses (included in the set). This means instant and tooless swaps to other gear pitches. Genius. Indeed really neat. The Preston motor adapter is very smart idea. And all the 546 different motors he had (well, not quite that many) are very nice too. I'm considering a digital M1 for my Preston. Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 19, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 19, 2008 Don had several prototypes on display at the show, in addition to the well known M-1 it included an M-1 Digital version, 4 different M-1 .5 series and 2 .5 Ultralights that are 3 ounces lighter then the already lighter .5 versions. The .5 series does not have the articulated Motor Cable adapter but instead, to save on weight, a straight connector that swivels. Since these motors use many of the same components as the M-One, it is mostly a matter of picking a new motor and adding the correct encoder. Some feedback on getting a M-1 changed to digital would be cool.
