New version of Modulus???

Recommended Posts

Well the Modulus 300 is a very good stable unit, but here is a newer modulus due out later this year....here is also a transmitter form Lentequip called the Canatrans 2 which I have been using for about three months and it is fantastic...it is very clean has 10 channels of uhf band to use and has scalable pwer output in incriments form 1/16 w to ! watt. and it has digital boosting and retarding ( think digital pad) very clean , 12-24V compliant.. but not in full production just yet....I have one of the few initial release versions....and it is roughly double the price of a modulus 3000.....

Bonus points include huge heat sinking for cooling and super performance at low power.

I was researching different transmitters and came across this string. Can anybody tell me anymore information about what Brado said in regards to a new version coming out? I'm getting ready to buy, but am wondering if I should now wait. ;)

Thanks

The CanaTrans is available and in full production, NTSC or PALB

Has anyone seen or heard anything about the new versions of Modulus soon to arrive?

Perhaps the innovative design from Canatrans has prompted CIT to respond with a like version.

Anyone have any inside info?

Just the rumor mill at work here, so don't take this as fact, but my understanding is that they are merely making a few minor changes because of availability (or lack thereof) of parts. While in there, they may tweak some things, but nothing like the redesign between the 2000 & 3000, so no change in wattage/performence, etc.

Like I said, hearsay....

The Canatrans unit is looking better and better. I'm having a hard time justifying $4400 for a trasnmitter and cables.

I've had a couple of conversations with vendors and the word on the street is that the new units probably won't be released next month as scheduled.

I'll probably buy a used 3000 and limp along.

I contacted CIT and asked them directly about their customer service as I have read numerous reports from disappointed customers. Here is their timely response:

Yes, communications has been a problem for us. We have been trying to support a dealer network for many years, which includes a lot of time training the salespeople. Unfortunately, the dealers want their large sales commissions but don't want to service customers. We are manufacturers, and we are not set up to do a lot of customer service - that's what dealers are for. But of course, theory and reality rarely coincide. At least a partial solution we have come up with involves the design itself of the 4000. We have designed it as a modular system. This will mean many problems can be tested right at the dealer with very simple equipment, and individual modules can be replaced by almost anyone. Repairs should be very fast, and available at all the dealerships around the world. They will be able to stock replacement modules for an instant swap-out, then they'll send the problem module in to us for repair.

This is not a perfect solution, but we think it will help a lot. By the way, we have streamlined repairs on the 3000 now, after training two more technicians, and we're down to a 10 day turnaround or less now. That could change at any moment if lots of folks go on hiatus at the same time and send their units in for upgrades or modifications.

Another Cinegear has come and gone and that Gem of a person Peter Spinelli was absent again and so was his "NEW" Modulus 4000.

Emery Was there with the Canatrans a transmitter that works beautifully but alas Peter must be showing up to cinegear in another 8-12 weeks thinking that the show will wait for him. Funny thing is that's the repair turnaround time for the modulus.

I'd like to Thank Peter for not showing up since it was one less person that I had to laugh at.

Ah, come on now Eric, play nice. :)

But you bring up a great point.

I've been wondering too what's up with the Modulus 4000.

My modulus 3000 has been a workhorse, though it did fail me last summer and need a new something or other, that took 3 months to fix and get back.

I've used a Canatrans before for handheld, but at $4K it's pricey.

So my question is, has anybody used the TransVideo Titan?

At $2400 for receiver and transmitter, it's a good price, but I don't

know how it performs. Input?
