No respect....I get no respect I tell you.

Stac could not get the curtains because we were still short of funds. You still have yet to pay the FED EX BILL! HAHAHAHA!

I don't know if the Tiffen is Boland or Boland is Tiffen. I have never asked. The Tiffen monitor appears to be so far advanced from the Boland that I doubt it. They might have the same backlight, etc. but I don't think the Boland is dimable, etc. Maybe it is...I could not get them to send me one so I don't know for sure. Regardless, that is a good question that I should ask next chance I get. Even if it is the same, TIffen Steadicam has taken it to an entirely new level. Again, not trying to make this a commercial but it is what it is and it works well for me. You all can buy what you want but I just wanted to make you all aware that I like it and it is worth looking at.

As for LA, yes it is true. I have been here for about 8 weeks now. Inner LA would have been a huge culture shock to my wife and kids so the further I could get out of the city and still be able to mentally deal with the commute the better. We settled on Agoura Hills. Nice and quiet neighborhood. And...because it is a nice and quiet neighborhood Rob and Robert, your not invited to any of my Steadicam parties. The rest of you are welcome to come. Date TBD. Haha! Starling, I saw your post before you edited it. You were not fast enough. Hahaha!

So far LA has treated me well. Let's hope this strike does not happen and if it does that it is very short. Then I think all well be good.

And by the way, anyone in a pinch in LA, please feel free to call for help/gear, etc. Glad to help anyone in need. Just paying it forward from when I was in need and found help...and trying to stay on the path that GB and the early steadi pioneers paved for all of us as a Steadicam community...always helping each-other.

Boy this thread has gone a bit off topic. Whew...Sorry about that everyone.

Best,

Steve

Hi ; I just come back from a live show outside in full sun with the transvideo HD SBL 6¨ without any hood .The picture was extremely sharp , without any problems of viewing angle in full direct reflect sun in the monitor . it was a steadicam alone for 14 minutes live , it can't be done with a monitor that sometimes you see the picture and sometimes you don't :)

I've use also a tool inside the cinemonitor , it's a Zebra (overexposure control) that was extremely useful because the camera was not remotely connected to the truck .

I will post some pictures tomorrow of the setup . I've use also the transvideo cinemonitor digital level and framelines .

Be careful that some people tell you cheap $1000 plastic monitor do the same things as a more expensive one , it's not true . try yourself , and you will see that there is a big difference .

you won't regret all $1 more that you have put in your monitor as it's a very important part of your rig You won't regret it .

Hi Norbert,

You are welcome to visit us in France.

You will see that we are using the top design tools for electronics, software, programmable compnents, mechanicals, optics,...

We do not use "commercially available hardware/software etc" and it is what makes the difference.

Our products has less than 1 frame/picture delay, always frame locked from 23 to 60. The picture is perfect (at least to our taste)

The CineMonitorHD family don't come from consumer TV sets but have been especially and only designed for to pro use.

4 years of development for the processor.

Have you already tried one?

Best regards

Jacques

Let's say Panasonic makes 100.000 of it's consumer 50" Monitors for $3000 and Transvideo makes only 200 to 300 Units. They still have to spent a lot of time and money on R&D.

Think about it.

Jens

Hi Jens :)

I may be wrong but my technical experience tells me that in this digital age, real R&D is the domain of the big boys. I'm sure relatively little companies like Transvideo usually take commercially available hardware/software etc. and custom package it to suit their purpose. As an example, I have a Glidecam L7-PRO monitor I bought for $700 and too late found out it was just a rebadged version of another non-pro name company that sold theirs for $400.

Why such a disparity in prices between the Transvideo and the Boland for example? It's not like we're talking Ford compared to Ferrari here either. They are both high end pro quality monitors that have very much the same specs and capabilities so where does double the cost come in?

Sorry, I'm still not convinced. <_<

Cheers

Norbert

Hi Guys,

This is a stunning monitor. The quality of the image continually surprises me. I'm not as interested as some of you in the equipment side of this job, but I'm realising how very important it is, for me, to have a great monitor. If I'm going to stare at something all day, it's really got to be this one. In strong sunlight, not only is it completely visible, but the picture quality is as good as it is indoors. Remarkable.

Then there's the built-in horizon, the HD frame-lines (and there is another version that allows you to generate your own frame-lines), waveform generators, etc, etc. All of this is accessed by a row of buttons and a big knob. No hunting through menus is necessary. And the build quality...wow. It looks bullet proof?no vents, gaps, holes, nothing to let in dust or water.

Enough already. You get the picture ;)

Chris

Hi Robert,

It's on my Archer, though I'm probably on my way to a 312 in October. I'm taking the monitor with me!

I made two 5 mm plates that screw into the mounting holes holes on either side of the monitor. Then I measured the centre of gravity, and tapped two holes that correspond to the Archer monitor bracket. About an hour's work for a total kludge like me. I'm having the plates anodised right now (vanity), so I can send you some photos within a week. Daylight photos I can guarantee you, but sunlight photos might take a little longer in this glorious Northern European summer.

All the best,

Chris

hi Robert , i will make some pictures of what's on the screen in full sun today .

Hi Chris, are you using this monitor as a replacement on your Archer or are you running another rig now? If you're still flying a Tiffen rig how did you mount the TransVideo?

Herve, any shots showing the screen in daylight?

Thanks!
