Panavision power connector wiring

I am working on a show where it looks like I will be flying a panavision lightweight 2. The AC gave me a power cable for the camera to steal the connector from so that I can power it from my sled. Does anyone know which pins are what? I think I can figure it out but if someone could confirm the wiring before I start soldering something together that would be great.

If the AC gave you the camera power cable then the 3 pin XLR (battery end) is wired Pin1 +24v, Pin 2 ground. Just match up the lemo end. But how can you not already have this cable in your kit? It's a commonly used camera. What if they show up with an XL instead or if the camera breaks down and they send an XL as a replacement? Do you have that cable? Show up prepared for anything.

First off what rig do you have? from your previous post about batteries it sounds like your starting out.

 

Having said that. You need at least two of EVERY cable that you will encounter. Yes I know cables are expensive (I think I have ~$3000 in cables in my kit) but it's part of the minimum equipment package that you need to do the job that your being paid very well for. Do you really want the responsibility of wiring the cable correctly? Your location says texas do you have a camera house right there that can replace a camera if you let the smoke out with an incorrectly wired cable?

 

camera power cables are ~$125 and that's cheap insurance that they are going to work.

That is what I was planning on doing but was just wondering if anyone knew what it is supposed to be in order to double check.

Yes it is a commonly used camera but I have never flown 35 before so I am just starting to get all of the cables I need for it. So far I have done a lot of 16mm and HD. Honestly I was hesitant to even offer myself up as a steadicam operator on this film but I am already working on it in another capacity and when they brought a guy in who was even less experienced than I am one day I thought I might as well throw my name into the hat. They know exactly what they are getting and the DP said he will try me out.

 

I know the camera is going to be a LW because I already had a chance to mount it up and fly it one day on set as a test. Just need to get power going so I don't need to wear a battery belt.

Do you really want the responsibility of wiring the cable correctly?

I rewired a lot of my rig myself. Comparatively a few power cables are easy. I am rather comfortable doing it. If there was a place in town I could drop by and pick up premade cabels for cheap I probably would, but that isn't the case so might as well do it myself.

Panavision is 3 hours away and it is C camera. Besides that I plan on triple checking the wiring before hooking anything up.

On the FFA.3S.303 Lemo connector (the end that plugs into the Panaflex body) pin 1 is +24vdc, pin 2 is GND, and pin 3 is not connected.

 

I believe the S-series has the pin number printed next to the solder cup on the inside of the connector.

Since I don't have the tecnical experience of you tec guys (FFA.3S.303.WTF!!!) I use the alternate method. Every time I get a job, I order another cable for all the cameras on the set. I think I just ordered my 5th or 6th XL cable. I could probably save some money on cables if I bothered to check and see what cables I have before I order. But who really wants to open their accessory case on a day they arent working?
