Premium Members Ron Veto Posted May 7, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 Aloha to all. Well it has finally happened. An IRS audit. Does anyone out there have a union or SOC or ICG description of what we do? Any issue worth exploring? I need to show what a camera operator does. Also what a Steadicam operator job includes. The info does not have to have been published (would be nice) but it needs to satisfy IRS stupid questions. I'm just building my case. Taking photos of vehicles and visual aids etc. I wish I was a better bookkeeper. Any help would be really cool. Thanks, Ron
Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted May 7, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 Chapter 4 of Job Descriptions for Film, Video & CGI, 5th addition by William Hines, SOC pretty much covers what we do and then some. Don't sweat the audit too much, at most they might disallow some things or mistakes you've made as just a "dumb tax payer". On the other hand, you could also get a tax professional to help you who could find a few expenses or options you overlooked and you are entitled to file an amended return on. I spent one hour writing but it never posted. I think I messed up when loading it. I hit upload my error and lost the entire novel. So if you want to speak to me, please just call. 818-344-5284. I can't write all that story again. Sorry. It turned out good. I owe zero from $16,000 case on me for various deductions. Just call if you want. I may provide some useful info. Take care, Aloha, Ron

Premium Members Mike McGowan SOC Posted November 22, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 22, 2008 I'd be curious to know how it goes too. I have never been audited but I am some what liberal with my deductions. They are all fair write-offs, at least from my pov but I wonder what the IRS consideres fair???
