Anthony Hardwick
I'm selling my arm... getting a Pro Arm. It's super clean, and was just serviced by Rob Luna. For more info email me off board. I'll reply with my phone # if you wish, or you can just look me up in the ICG directory. Anthony
Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted July 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 7, 2004 Anthony, what's up my friend. Just wanted to call to your attention, but I assume you mean $11,000.00 not $1,100.00 as you have on the thread.

Jeez, and I figured I'd buy it as a backup for only $1100.00.... :P
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted July 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 7, 2004 I'll need a back-up arm to go with my back-up sled (if Steve Byro ever gets it to me!)...$1100 sounds fair. Ron B
Anthony Hardwick
He he... Well as they say... haste makes... stupidity. Thank you one and all for alerting me to the mistake I made while trying to post as I was running out the door. Indeed the thread title should read: MS Iso-Elastic Arm for sale $11,000.00 Somehow I also managed to post it twice... ahhh well.. Here's another good example of why people (or at least a moderator) should be able to be delete or modify posts on certain occasions. I can't change the topic title, and I can't delete the accidental double post. The best I could do is exchange the text of the second post to have a few "..." in it. If there was a moderator I could appeal to, this mistake could be eradicated fairly simply, but it looks like my hasty mistake will endure (and cause confusion) for all eternity - or at least until the machines rise up and take control of the 'net. Anthony Hardwick
Alright Brad... That's it. Let's settle this after school. 3:00 pm.... no guns, just sticks and knives. ;) "I can't change the topic title, and I can't delete the accidental double post." These are good reasons... not being able to change the mistaken title just adds confusion, and the doubled post just clogs up the works with useless and unnecessary redundancy. Here's another good reason: just think of how many trivial posts could potentially be avoided (like all of the posts in this thread except for the first one). I understand what you mean. I was just ribbing a little, because this is such a minor thing. Compared to other internet forums this place is so calm and collected that I just don't see a need for a moderator. Of course, if everyone wants it that's fine. It won't really bother me either way. If we had a couple hundred new posts every day and a big chunk of them were mistakes and clogging things up I'd agree completely about needing a moderator. But as things are now I just don't think it's a necessity. I actually enjoy the posts like yours that elicit humorous responses. Sticks and knives are no good.....this isn't West Side Story you know! Where's a moderator when you need one?! I'm being threatened! Hey Byro, can you email me the number to the FBI?
guillermo nespolo
sorry for asking here ...but what is the major advantage of the pro arm over the iso -elastic? why do u feed the personal need for change to a pro arm ? have u try it already? thanks alot guillermo "just want to now" nespolo i have a efp arm upgrade by mk-v and i try the iso elastic at the soa worksho and i like it feels to me less elastic "if u wanna put it in some way""
Anthony Hardwick
I think both arms are very good. They work on different principles of course... the Pro arm uses compression springs versus stretching (the technical term is eluding me). The Iso Elastic also behaves differently with regard to it's nature of bearing the weight at whatever boom height you bring it to. I have of course tried the Pro arm numerous times. I wouldn't buy something as integral to my system as an arm is without trying it first. I actually used a borrowed one (thanks to Colin Hudson!) on a recent shoot, and that only reaffirmed that for me, the Pro arm is what I'd prefer. Frankly, I always wanted a Pro arm from the beginning... I just couldn't afford it. We all have to make decisions and compromises (especially when starting out) when choosing the gear we buy for a given system with whatever particular budget we have to work with. I did not have an unlimited budget, and one of the choices I made was to save a few thousand dollars on the arm, so that I could put that money towards other gear (like a back mounted vest). I prefer the Pro arm for a variety of reasons, although there are plenty of sweet aspects to the Iso Elastic. I love the no tools adjustment of the spring tension on the Iso Elastic, for example, and the Iso-Elastic effect is quite easy to grow to like or love. In the end it's apples and oranges. I've had my apple, now I want an orange.
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted July 12, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 12, 2004 the Pro arm uses compression springs versus stretching (the technical term is eluding me) The Technical term is "Extension Spring" (Think garage door spring) I'm a Pro arm Guy never have liked the Iso-elastic type arms. The Pro arm is just so friction free and slick. It just feels "Right"
guillermo nespolo
thanks guys for the explanation.....some times its hard to put your hand on others gear a take it for a ride ..here in argentina i think that there is only one pro arm in the hole country ..... guillermo " i will keep flying my 3a arm for now" nespolo
Anthony Hardwick
Just for claification, this arm is still for sale. I have gotten a lot of email requests for pics, so I have finally gotten around to taking some. I've had a crazy schedule, so I'm sorry for not getting around to this sooner. There are currently three people who say they are interested in the arm with one who has seen it claiming that he essentially wants to buy it, but he is undergoing knee surgery this week. He has not written a check, and is in no apparent hurry, so the arm is still for sale to the first person who writes a check. The price is $11,500.00. You will not find a cleaner used arm for sale anywhere. I can guarantee that. It has just been serviced by Rob Luna. To see the pics, go to: http://homepage.mac.com/wentwest/PhotoAlbum10.html Thank you. Anthony Hardwick
