Looks like it works.

 

First thing is the video took a long time to load. Don't know if it's very large, or if the connection is slow. Anyway... Operating wasn't bad. Very consistent when traveling straight. The horizons go a little when you pan. Could be a matter of dynamic balance, could be a matter of operating. Probably a combination of both. Headroom seems a bit much. Would love to see more running, and would've loved to have seen the camera come up those stairs with her.

 

If you plan to do more of these, my best suggestion would be to change up the subject material. Go down to the park and shoot some people playing sports or walking dogs or whatever. I won't name names, but there is a very notorious old member of these forums that used to post what seemed like hours of footage just walking with the same person - over, and over, and over, and over, and...... enough said. Just give us some variety. It'll make your videos more interesting to watch, you'll get better practice and feedback.

thanks for the reply and comments. I?m actually not fully satisfied about the dynamic balance I am able to achieve, but I also think that the most important thing is that I have to make a lot of practice and exercises and I?ll follow your suggestions in the next shooting. I would like to use an havier camera to have more ?allied inertia? and in the meantime I add the Pilot weights on the stage. I congratulate you on the web site ?steadishots? you have published: it?s a great source to study and understand the art of operating staedicam.

Hi Amedeo, Im a newbie with Steadicam (Pilot) and still learning the basics. However, after watching your video and then watching some well known American program on TV (they too were doing similar shots to yours), I actually thought yours was better!. So if your not a 'pro' then at least you seem to stack up against this one! Well done.. IMHO it doesn?t matter what your shooting in this situation, its what your doing with the rig that interests me.

thanks for the reply and comments. Congratulations on your purchase: the Steadicam Pilot is a great rig and you will have many satisfactions using it. About the video I have published, I think there are some problems about holding horizon during panning, headroom and tilting. When I make a video and I watch the montage the first time, I am satisfied, but watching and watching? and studying camera movements in the shots?.I realize errors and that steadicam operating needs a lot of practice. Thanks for your compliments about my video.
