Navy CIS Steadicam scene or not?

Hey,

yesterday I watched Navy CIS. When the crew is talking and investigate cases in their

Head Office, there are always very very cool moved pictures around the various desks.

I say it is filmed with a Steadicam but a friend (he is in the "dolly grip business") says

that it is filmed with a dolly mounted Steadicam.

Anybody here in the forum who is a camera operator in NCIS? Or just someone who knows?

Thanks!

Henry

Hi Henry,

I'm working on NCIS as a regular day-player. Billy Webb is the DP/Steadicam Operator on the first unit. They are doing a lot of hard mounted steadicam moves, aka, garfield-mount on a dolly.

SOC Steadicamforum Video

Watch the Billy Webb part....

I hope that helps.

not sure how I feel about that. When I moved up to operator I wasn't a focus-puller/operator. A good leader/crew chief (such as a dp/key grip/gaffer/whoever) surrounds himself with competent people and lets them do their job. And we wonder why the op position has been in jeapardy. I hope he's atleast getting a huge $ bump in addition to the rental when he operates -- I assume it's his rental?

Hey,

first thanks Jens for the video link. It is that kind of scene wich I mentioned.

I saw a hard mounted Steadicam here in Germany during a shot, really great shots. I think I have to try it sometime....
