Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted June 16, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 16, 2008 I have an upcoming commercial shooting on the 235. When I first saw the equipment list from Panavision Dallas it had 235 steadimags listed but I just noticed tonight that that item has mysteriously changed to saying 435 steadimags. I don't know if I misread it the first time or if they changed it between versions, but either way it seems that they might not have any true 235 steadimags available. If that is the case it looks like my options will be either the 435 steadimags, the dolphin mags or a standard 435 400ft mag. Which would be a better option? Should I insist on finding mags somewhere else if panavision doesn't have them available? If that doesn't work out which of the other mags would you choose? ~Jess
Premium Members John Perry SOC Posted June 16, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 16, 2008 If they can't get true 235 steadimags, then I would go with the 435 steadimags. They do not sit perfectly vertical on the 235, but are definately better than the standard 435 mag on Steadicam. There is a camera rental house in Nashville that has true Arri 235 steadimags for rent, and I know Panavision has subrented from them before. Here is their info in case you want to pursue it: Cameratrux Inc. 615.480.7417 www.cameratrux.com
