I was wondering how some of you may have decked out your cars/vans to carry all the gear. I have a photo showing how wide the VITO is. Any ideas or photos of how you have done it would be great. I had also wondered about having small ramps so I can wheel my cart up into the back without having to pull it apart. Just thinking out loud. Post your thoughts!! If you work off carts as I did you may be interested in my last arrangement. I built a subfloor from the back doors 5 feet into the van, high and wide enough to slide a 5'x4' ramp under. That gave me plenty of room to roll my gemini senior and rubber made carts in built and ready (locked in with ratchet straps and pick points securely fastened to the frame of the van, also a back strap between the carts and the front of the van to double the restraint and keep the carts where they belong. Open the back doors and slide out the ramp, ready to roll. I loaded most of the gear into the center part of the van, best for ride and handling and if I had left over I would leave it on the cart and roll it into the back. Sticks and heads went in the back, between the doors and the rubber made. I also built a loading table that folded down from the driver's side wall in the center of the van but that may not apply in your case. I bought mine new without back seats (That was actually a good selling point) and it's easy to load my cases in the back because the floor is about knee high. guillermo nespolo Posted July 17, 2004 Report Share Posted July 17, 2004 moust of my work its on a city so i take my equipment on a small car ...for shure in the states dont have that car .....its a ford ka (black is the model ) european model similar ...for ka sport .... some times location here in buenos aires are a pain in butt...... i have many for shure i buy a pt cruiser i so howard from mk-v hi use to have one ...and i love it....only problem the engine its small for me for the sice of the car.... I will post pictures tomorrow. It has a ramp in the back shelves, straps, even music and hooks for a hamoc. Its a small trailer but it fits everything very comfortable. I´l post pics Best. The ramp back stand up trailers are going away the best thing Because: 1. lower floor than any van thus the ramp is less steep. 2. side tie downs, come with most of them so you can anchor the carts to the sidewalls. 3. Motorcycle size trailers or small snowmobile trailers, for more room for the hammock 4. padlock hasp comes with and you can install better locks, no window to break etc hard to break in secure! 5. leave it on site and drive home. given they have a security person. 6. tow it with your much more sporty car.... vans are boring to drive... 7. more head room except the cool ups style van above. 8. solid walls with ribs to attach shelving. 9. store the trailer in the garage no loading or unloading at the beginning and end of job. 10 I even have an outside plug in the heat the interior light the interior and charge batteries inside.
