Premium Members Mike Germond SOC Posted November 10, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 I'm in Grand Rapids/Mount Pleasant, but I won't be attending the Chicago workshop, partly because I've started to get gigs stacking up quickly. I do want to participate in an SOA workshop in the near future however. Looks like my only free time will be starting in May though! The beauty/burden of that Pilot will be the delicate touch you're required to have to keep these lighter rigs "steadi" (pun intended) ;) I just shot a 4-day concert series where a Clipper would be ideal, and I did serious work to make my Flyer look like I was shooting on a big-rig.. Premium Members richard bellon Posted January 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 27, 2009 This is a great idea. In order to really practice with a Steadicam, you need a person that's moving through various environments. Most people, even significant others, aren't very motivated to be that person for practice. But another newbie op would. In addition, having someone take smooth footage of you working the rig would be really helpful. Maybe even something you can use on each other's reel. So a newbie practice partner is a really great idea! But I'm in the New York City area, not L.A. So if anyone wants a practice partner in the NYC area, shoot me a personal message. Hey, maybe we can use this thread for lots of people in different areas to hook up like this. hi it is a good idea and it works. I have a practice partner and it is amazing how much you learn from each other. It also motivates and keeps it fun
