Trouble shooting AB batteries powering 435

Cheong,

I also have the zero g. I tried looking for the email I had received from Brian months ago asking him about the gauge wire that runs up the post. I actually think I remember Brian saying it was 18gauge wire. I'll have to go back through them in the morning, when i'm fresh.

I'm running 14.4volt vmounts they are 95wh. Sometimes I wish I had the 135wh for the extra weight. Next time around I'll look at the powercubes. Anyway I've had my meter on the output on the topstage and the voltage reads 16.8volts at the top of the sled and at the lemo connector an the battery plate at the base of the sled. When in 24volt mode they read over 32volts. So, on Fresh - half full batteries I really don't have a change according to the meter (its a nice meter with a fresh battery).

I've asked Brian about the voltage dropoff on the power hungry cameras. He's flown them all without a problem. But has told me he would be more than happy to make a cable with a larger gauge.

Problem is you can't beat Physics, You need 14AWG wire to run a 435 or HD camera. Sure you can do it on a smaller gauge but you're going to cause yourself problems

Great Info Eric.

Thanks for posting.

I'm going to modify my center post cable on my Mk-V and my PRO sled.

Ramon

Ramon,

Make sure you change the cables from the batteryplates to the dbox too. Its microphonecable. Oh, and change the cables and pcb board in your d box too. And some other parts. Then you make it stable, only then. ( talking about the mk-v one )

Hi! Eric,

Many thanks for the post. Didn't know about this at all. The information was really an eye opener. Glad you chipped in.

Brian of ActionCam said it is 21 AWG (could have been a typing error) and he's going to have an upgrade wiring system soon to accommodate the RED too.

Hi! Jon,

Thanks for chipping in. So glad to know that I am not alone. Do forward me the email when you have some time. Brian just mentioned it is an 21 AWG cable and he's on the verge of upgrading the wiring system. Hopefully that would solve these problems.

I am going to try Mike's suggestion of turning on the 435 at 25fps and then switching to what-ever frame rate required, sounds workable. Will keep you guys informed.

Have fun flying.
