what does the thrust bearing do?

anybody have a picture of one?

You can get a Gimbal Post Clamp from GPI for $20.-

As I dought that you will get an actual bearing ( for that go to either Rig engineering or Bear-Bel, they have conversion Links with integrated bearings as upgrades for 3A arms... but cost considerably more)...

Bob DeRose use to make an over sized Delron washer that you would put on the post so that the weight from the rig distributed through the Gimbal clamp would rest on the delon and be a little better to turn the gimbal on the arm...

It never even came close to what GPI later did with the Bearings in there arm...

Oh well let us know,

Erwin
