Premium Members Frank Hackeschmidt Posted November 4, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2008 Dear Niko! I was operating several times a rented PRO before I decided to buy a own one. Now I am a proud owner of a Betz-Tools RIG and I am very happy with this produkt and with the support of Christian Betz. In emergency America can be sooooo far away! (A college of me had so much trouble with transport from and to L.A. after a crash - he was many weeks without his PRO-Sled) best wishes Frank

Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 10, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 10, 2009 had a fun time on the set the other day...did some dueling steadicam with Mike O'Shea. It was fun to see the 2 rigs side by side. I think he's been flying his MK-V for several years...I've had my pretty bone stock Pro since Dec '97. Here are some pictures of them, both with LT's in the same configuration: ooops...I'm having trouble up-loading the pics. Says they are too big (at 70k each?!). I'll try again tomorrow rb
Premium Members Amando Crespo Posted March 10, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 10, 2009 Hi guys! The first thing is to introduce myself. I'm Niko Lasarte, an operator established in spain. The second thing to apologize for the mistakes in my English. any way, let´s see. This is the time to change my old EFP sled by one most complet....... - It is ready to carry HD signal to the inside of the sled. On the contrary: - price :o , and don´t know the weight sled. I have heard that working with light cameras can be uncomfortable. Has anyone had this experience? PRO sled? I like a lot but I have a feelin........... lagging behind in some respects. With this future is coming ... (RED, ARRI D-21 and those coming! I have also heard of XCS but I don´t know. I would like to know your opinion on ........................hat do you think of the HD and post in 4 stage? So I can make myself a more complete idea and decide with more discretion. Thank you very much ;) . Niko Wellcome to SPAIN!..... It´s happy for me to know one more steady op at my country

Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 What happened to the pink hair Ron? And where's your lisigav? I thought you kept it mounted on the rig at all times?

Premium Members Iain Baird Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 Interesting how much longer the MK-V is with the same payload. I'm not sure about how much the old PRO chocolate bar batteries weigh but I'm sure that the PRO green screen and battery dock are a whole lot heavier than the LCD and battery mounts on the MK-V. As well the MK-V has been set up with a lot more space between gimbal and topstage which would definitely add a few inches.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 look at the distance between the Gimbal and the film-plane, good luck holding the horizon...........
Premium Members Grayson Austin Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 look at the distance between the Gimbal and the film-plane, good luck holding the horizon........... What exactly do you think the distance between the Gimbal and the film plane has to do with holding a good horizon? Mike O'Shea is an excellent operator who could hold a nice horizon with a whiffle ball bat and a case of girl scout cookies as the counterweight but having more distance between the gimbal and film plane will not really affect the ability to hold good horizon other than actually helping a bit by spreading out the mass of the rig much like spreading out the lower mass of the monitor and batteries. The rig reacts slower like turning a battle ship compared to a jet ski. The part that does apply is that once you get off level, it takes longer to get the rig back on level. Tilting will also be a bit farther from nodal tilting as well but that is not a horizon issue. Jerry Holway has had a bit to say about this somewhere on the forum as well I believe. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 I didn't mean to start anything...just funny to see the 2 rigs together. 1st off it's a pleasure to have Mike come by and yes his work is awesome! Yes, his sled was extented a few inches as well, but I found it funny that even compressed the MK-V was so much longer than my Pro sled. To answer the question of weight, my old Pro batts are just over 2 lbs each (2.2?) and I happened to be using my Marrel monitor (3 lbs) so the weight is actually closer than one would think. If I remember correctly his sled was slightly heavier than mine (4 stage post me thinks) as my arm drooped a bit when I tried it. He has a great set-up, very smooth. as far as the pink hair...maybe again soon? I may have been the only pink-haired steadicam op in NY? rb
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted March 11, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 All multi post rigs are generally longer/taler, do to the fact that they have to reach that magic lens hight of 10 feet.... Anyhow... You could have 10, 20, or 50 rig set ups and ops all masters at there craft all set ups way different. But the interesting thing is that both setup as different as they are, give you similar results...
