Item 4 has me confused, "no built in power supplies for cameras"--what does this mean exactly? The sled still provides power output for cameras, of course? (12/24v)? What cameras will this not work with?

Charles,

The XCS-1 has a power supply that provides regulated 12 volts (13.2 volts actually) and regulated 24 volts (26) even with a battery input voltage as low as 10 volts. The XCS-2 still provides 12 and 24 volts but they are not regulated and will not boost low voltage

Looks awsome.

But it is a bit confusing... the good old XCS Sled with a LCD Monitor...

I mean... Somehow I really love their TB6 monitor!

(HA! I will buy that sled, get rid of the lcd monitor and install my beloved TB6... yea). :P

Ps... What about the price of that baby? Is it already known or not?

I know in one of the earlier posts it was said that the rig is going to be able to support v mount battery systems soon.

With all the software controls of the batteries. Will the sled be able to fly the powercubes out of the box? Or will there have to be a software update since they are 28v?

My Powercubes are 12 volt. Have they been changed?

Your right Phil. I went back and looked at the rating sheet on tiffens site. They are "14v". My mistake.

I do know that powerr tool comapnies are developing/ have out 28-30volt lith ion batteries. It will be interesting to see how that translates into our world.

From Greg Bubb

I have included a side by side of the Ultimate and the Ultimate 2. They both are being produced. Ultimate 2 is a bit shorter because the housing is shorter in height.

Let me describe the Ultimate 2.

1) Same witdh/length 3.5" x 7.5" long x 4.375" tall (that's around 1.1" shorter.

2) Weight is 1 pound 6 ounces lighter.

3) Anton Bauer, PAG and soon I will be offering IDX, V mounts on all sleds.

4) No built in power supplies for cameras, the only adjustable power supply is for the record deck 4.6, 7.2, 9, & 12Vdc.

5) It has the most technically advanced battery management system designed. The system is similar to the Ultimate but different, it will draw down batteries equally, even with mixed chemistry.

6) No blocking diodes needed for Lithium batteries due to the electronic design.

7) 1,2, or 3 batteries for 12 volt mode & 2 or 3 batteries for 24 volt mode, or you can use a 24-32 Volt battery on one of the plates for your 24Vdc cameras/systems and if you like you can mix 12 & 24 Vcd batteries.

8) Ultimate 2 will handle up to 30 amps @ 12 Vdc continuous draw, 50 amps @ 24 Vdc.

9) Reserve polarity, short circuit protected like both sleds All correct camera power wiring, video wiring.

10) Single power on/ off pushbutton, with a power LED Amber power light indicator

12) Three individual battery voltage readings for each pack on the system. Or combined reading of 12 and 24 Volts in 12/24 volt mode.

15) User sleectable/programmable 12 and 24 Vdc low battery indicator adjustable for 12.4-13.8Vdc for 12 volt settings in 8 steps and 22.0 -24.0 Vdc in 24 volt mode adjustable in 8 steps. This adjustment is done on the in side of the housing, not like the pushbutton interface on the Ultimate.

11) Single 12/24 Vdc pushbutton with on screen text reinforcement (displayed on the LCD) 12 volt mode you have 12Vdc out on the 12Vdc ports, 24 Vdc mode you will have 12 and 24Vdc out on all 12 & 24 Vdc ports.

12) Can run 12 & 24 Volts at the same time up to 30 amps. Using both camera output at the top stage 2B 303 still will provide 12 or 24 Vdc when in 24 Vdc mode, and 12Vdc on the 2B 302.

14) Up to 3.25 amp @ 12. 0 Vdc out put for the transmitter power. New for both sleds.

13) New distribution amplifier design for both sleds. All correctly wired video in/out. Standard design for our sleds

16) Video signal noise filtering to reduce video interference.

18) Separate Video inputs Composite and HDSDI at the top stage & HDSDI output on front of the LEH housing. This design is on all XCS sleds now.

19) This new LEH is completely interchangeable with all XCS equipment no matter what the age is of the design

20) Four spare signal wires in the post for your expansion needs, upper platform and lower electronics housing.

21) Spare 9mm and 12 mm holes for connector expansion.

22) Available color is Black
