Am I just being paranoid?

I have a steadicam efp. When I check my drop time and the rig is horizontal with the camera facing upwards it seems like my locking clamp on my mounting plate on the sled is under enormous stress holding all that weight from sliding and could possibly strip the little screw that tightens the locking clamp. Am I just being paranoid or is it a true possibility?

Hi Andre

The lock is a tried and tested way of holding the plate. (from the Model 1 up and is still on new systems)

As long as you have your saftey locking screw in then it can only slide onto this.

(The saftey screw is on your right towards the back of the topstage - with the camera facing away from you - if you do not have one then you can be paranoid - it is a fairly standard screw from any hardware store)

You can put your mind at ease - Without a camera! put your dovetail plate into the topstage and do not lock it - but do up your saftey screw- and tip the the sled up and down and you will see it has a stop front and back - if not then you can be paranoid :D

All the best

Howard

Hi Andre!

Yes! I fell the same when check the drop Time.

Is only because I'm a Paranoid too :P

When I do that, My left hand is always near to the "hand of camera" following the camera without touch it.

Like the Argentinian people says: "Mas vale prevenir que curar"

Best,

Gus.
