Any tips on coming to a smooth and steady stop?

 

Also I'm still looking for more training exercises.

 

I'm no expert but use your hips when starting and stopping! If the rig is ballanced you should be able to fly with little or no contact with the gimbal. A little tilt forward with the hips will get you going and a little tilt back will help you stop. Never grab the post or gimbal to stop as your taking away the effect of the arm.
