Remote focus Unit & Video Transmitter

 I'm piecing my kit together slowly, as you do, but still need a remote focus/iris control unit. The Bartech I know is a great product and good value for money. Unfortunatley my budget is stretched further than Mr Armstrong himself. Is anyone looking to off load a unit such as the Bartech or like. transmitter/reciever and motor package would be ideal. Mainly shooting on Digi Beta/HD and 16mm at the moment. Also looking at video transmitters, seen teletests package and black box's here in the UK. But the modulus looks great .Can u use this in the UK and if so anyone got one of those going like the budgie as well?

Many thanks in advance

Hi Jami,

About the video transmitters: they are all usable but only a few are actually approved in every country.

The Modulus is a very good transmitter but almost everywhere illegal, as it allows you to make your own TV-station, and can be received on normal tv-sets. That´s exactly what we want but also exactly what governments are afraid of.

But, I have never met someone who was busted with such a transmitter, so the risk seems low.

Sadly, those transmitters that are allowed nowadays are in the 2,4 Ghz range with all the wireless computer data, observation cams, portable house-phones and video-links to the bed-room so you can expect lot´s of interference there.

Oh, also follow-focus systems like Preston, Scorpio and Arri are there too making it unusable for video-transmission.

At the moment there are transmitters available on 1,2-1,3 GHz, also illegal in most states but free from interference.

Hi Jami,

I have a Seitz focus system available. It comes with 3 channels, 2 Heden motors, 2 amps, Hand control, spare antenae and brackets. All in a pelican case.

I'll work out a price and post for you. I don't think it would be more than $4k Australian.

All the best
