Shane Norton
Hey guys, I have a question about the Ultra 2 vest. I operate using this vest which I share with a partner. We usually spend a 6 hour shift in the rig splitting usage into 3 hours each. My partner usually operate the first 3 hours and I then take over for the final 3 hours. We are both similar size guys so, besides minor tweaks, the vest doesn't change much when we switch. We ran into a few problems and I was wondering if anybody has any insight. The left waist pad (right pad when looking at the vest) had constantly ridden up. It wouldn't take long before the pad was no longer doing anything useful leaving our hips exposed to the hard plastic. We tried to strap the pad lower on the velcro and even experimented with flipping it over. We tried loosening and tightening the waist straps and even played with the length of the vest. Nothing seemed to work. Then one day we noticed just to the left of the center (to the right if you're looking at it) the plastic had begun to tear. This tear was about halfway up the plastic waist plate when discovered. We sent the rig in for repairs and have since switched to Ultra 1, which we are both much happier with. Has anybody experienced anything similar? Do any of you have any advice as to what may have caused our pad and break issues? I don't think it is something we may be doing improperly that caused it, but I'm open for suggestions. Any help will be much appreciated. -Shane
