"Fracolizer" Sled Weight Plate System

This is a weight plate system designed to work with Tiffen big sleds: Ultra2, Original Ultra Cine series, Vector, Clipper series sleds. Any of their full size sleds that have the dovetail bottom.

The weight plate attaches to the bottom dovetail of the sled by sliding on and it has a locking system that allows the weight to be placed fore or aft up to 5" for additional balance support if needed.

This weight plate system was made to allow the operator to balance the sled with a shorter post when desired. I built and tested a few prototype versions for about 7 months before making this one available to others. As you can see in the photos, you have 4 weight options. If the aluminum plate itself is not enough weight, you simply add one of the extra weights by screwing it on the bottom of the aluminum plate.

Approximate weights of the system are as follows:

Main dovetail system- 1.0 lb

Weight # 1- 0.8 lb

Weight # 2- 1.25 lb

Weight # 3- 1.65 lb

For sales info go to the Equipment Classifieds FOR SALE and see the sale posting.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve sent me a prototype weight plate several months ago. In that time I?ve pretty much used it on every job, except for those pro-consumer jobs. Adding weight on the bottom of my Ultra I let?s me keep the sled nice and compact. I?ve also found it useful when going low mode with my Ultra I. I can extend the top post without extending the bottom posts because of the additional weight from the weight plate. I have only used the main dovetail with or without weight number one. I haven?t had the chance to use the other plates. I store the main dovetail right on my rig, so it?s always on when I pull the sled out of the case. A local DP friend of mine who specializes in aerial photography has a set of gyros. I tapped a 3/8 ? 16 thread in the bottom of the plate to easily screw in a gyro when needed. I haven?t used it yet, but I?m ready. The quality and craftsmanship is what you would expect from another Steadicam Owner/Operator/Machinist: excellent.

Operators-

We are now offering the Sled weighted system (for a shorter post) with IDX or Anton Bauer pre drilled holes for battery plates. You can use a battery as your weight if you need the extra power. Same low price.

We still have some in-stock and for anyone in the LA area that wants to see one in person first I am working on the Paramount lot for the next few weeks or so. Glad to meet anyone for a demo.

Best,

Steve
