Premium Members GerryVasbenter Posted August 14, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 14, 2004 I'm in the process of selling of some of steadicam equipment, and wondered how others takle the sale process? Dealing with ops from around the world I guess trust on both sides and clear comunication is the starting point. Any ideas welcome!! Gerry. Premium Members jay kilroy Posted August 16, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 16, 2004 Gerry feel free to post your equipment on the SOA site. We have a classified section that many ops frequently check in on. www.steadicam-ops.com Good Luck
Premium Members DavidWest Posted August 20, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 20, 2004 beware of the evil internet... you might want to use an escrow service if the person that you are selling to is outside the US or not someone that you know from the steadicam community... if you take payments via paypal.... well, in the US is ok as long as you can prove that you shipped it...but overseas- you can run into a real problem if they claim that they never got it and then paypal does a chargeback... best to deal with people that you or a friend knows... second best is to deal with people that have real telephone numbers and addresses... etc... basically be a little paranoid since there are so many scams going on right now... as a seller US postal money orders are a nice way to get payment... Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted August 21, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 21, 2004 bascially a middle man... its a little expensve which is why its only worth it for large sells. bascially when the auction or sale is finalized, you send your money to a reputable escrow service that you ,the buyer, and seller agree on and the seller sends you your goods. once you receive your goods and are satisfied you can have the service "release" the funds to the seller.
