Premium Members benedictspence Posted February 18, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 Hi All, Having just had a 6 week steadicam job confirmed, starting at the end of next week, I've also just been told that Lemo UK are busy as hell and it'll take at least 4 weeks for them to make me up a lightweight Fibre Optic Jumper! Bugger! The cameras will be Sony HDC1500 which I guess have a standard HD lemo connector on them although I am currently trying to confirm this... Is there anyone who will hire me one or preferably two such jumpers for the 6 week period. I will of course cover them with my insurance and will pay for postage if you're outside London. I know they are not an essential bit of kit but if I'm going to be 6 weeks in the vest I want to be as prepared as possible! I doubt many live ops can afford to be without their fiber jumper for that length of time. If it were a few days I'm sure someone would help you out. I've been offerd a loaner by another very kind op, but you're right I'd much rather pick up my own. I think I've found a chap who can put one together for me, rather than LEMO UK who are saying 4-5 weeks. I was thinking more along the lines of 3ft on the cable, 6ft seems a bit too much- would you say 6ft is the good length? Cheers for the advice! Ben Hey Ben, The Length depends on where you attach the main cable, we all attach it in the back of the vest with the jumper draped over your shoulder, so 3 feet feels way too short for us, you can always coil it up but you can't make it longer good luck I say order one and have it in you kit Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd order one but the job starts the end of next week so by the time it arrived from Lemo UK my job will be almost over. I'll try the US this evening see if they can ship something out to me next week. Although it's definatly worth having once in my kit (and I like a good complete kit!), it's very rare I do studio stuff and even rarer that it's HD! Is this a reliable jumper? Has anyone had one fail yet? I'm also looking for a good cable to use w/ the HDC1500. Reliability is my biggest concern.
