John, did you bother to search for this in the forum? Just typing in "Basson" in the search option will reveal 2 pages with endless replies about this and similar systems, where you can find the general opinion: it is trash!

Thanks for that bit of info. All I found when I did my fist search was a bunch of people asking questions about the Basson and more people saying search the archives. But upon another 30 minutes of searching I found what I was looking for. Just thought I could get a quick opinion. Next time I'll do a more thorough search.

Wow, check out the photo at the top of the Basson website of the guy sitting out of the door of a helicopter. That looks completely, perfectly safe in every regard and something you'd definitely want to do, no questions asked.

Shot Elements: Step off at altitude

Have a look at this pic:

Theres no way that rig is balanced, and the camera is pointing wonky.

Would that be with a parachute or just a wing suit and crash housing?

Those big flappy theigh pads extend out to form a batsuit type thing so the operator can gracefully glide down to the ground.

haha, good catch!

Maybe I should photoshop the biggest imax camera possible onto my rig..... Or maybe onto a pilot or merlin, that could be fun.

Has anybody ever heard of a Basson Steady System? It is an impressive looking rig but I know that looks aren't everything.

It's and impressive piece of garbage. You can do better, MUCH better

None of the beat poets could have said it better.

Also if you see this pic:

The bottom left hand picture of the guy welding.... well if you type 'welding' into google images:

Google

First image?! lazy photoshoppers.

How fun! The internet is rad... Here's what I pulled from the EXIF data of the original image...

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Airman 1st Class Jonathan Trammell welds a part on the remodeled mortuary transfer vehicle. Airmen from the metal technology shop here redesigned the inside of the truck to increase the capacity from two to six transfer cases. Airman Trammell is assigned to the 436th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. (U.S. Air Force photo by William M. Plate Jr.)

Not that it matters any, I just thought I'd jump on that bandwagon... Maybe if we all teamed up, we could find Osama bin Laden.
