Premium Members Martin Stacey Posted March 19, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) Guys, Lets not turn this into the slanging match debacle that the last AR thread became. At the end of the day we all know there have been issues (both with the design and the politics behind it) and Howard's constant refusal to deal with or even admit to them has ultimately resulted in the stunted growth and devlopment and eventual demise of what could have been the greatest addition to our industry since the invention of the wireless remote focus. I too have been bitten by the snake charmer but I at least was able to limit the damage due to the fact that I was aware of the issues thanks to this forum. I gave him a chance when I bought some used gear that I knew had issues and knew exactly what the problem was. My V2 was never AR compatible as it wasn't a V2 at all. It had the circuit board from an Evolution Dbox inside it and not the AR compatible V2 boards but when I took it to Howard he lied to my face and claimed it didn't work because someone had tampered with it. Now I know that you've also had this problem from Howard Chris and he lied to you also about it and I understand why you are now going about doing your own thing. Anyway, I tested his honesty, he failed, end of story. Now I bought an AR but not from Howard, I bought it used (or as I prefer to think of it, tried and tested) and it has always worked flawlessly as far as holding level in every circumstance I have put it in but it took a great deal of time and money to get the sled electronics to the same standard. To this day I have power issues and cameras shutting down for no reason other than the power isn't getting to them through the rig. I thought about upgrading to the V3 but waited to see what others experiences were and have extremely underwhelmed by its performance. So the question is what to do when the manufacturer of your equipment won't service his own product or even admit that there is a problem? Easy, do it yourself. I'm in the process of having complete custom electronics built for my rig which will upgrade it to HDSDI and deal with all the power issues. Plus give me a few extras that MK-V claim aren't possible. Warrantees be damned! There was never one going to be offered by MK-V anyway which also brings up the question of who will fulfill the warantee obligations to all those "new" rig owners out there now that the company whose name is on them no longer exists. Another .50 (Damn this thread is getting expensive) Marty Edited March 19, 2009 by Martin Stacey

Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted March 19, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 Hi Guys - Has anyone seen the Awesome AR work on 'Transporter 3'?I think its Eric Le Roux - I applaud you Sir! To be honest I'm looking forward to meeting Michael Stumpf and showing him how much of a 'Sucker' I am!! Politics aside - the AR is already working in the market place... Yes, MK-V has issues - Howard, please get them sorted... As Mr Le Roux shows - the AR kicks ass!!! Until someone gets their other stuff together - the MK-V AR 'WILL' bring inventiveness to the big screen!!! I'm blown away with some of the shots on 'Transporter 3' - the shots that really make the AR. This is the only reason I have posted here tonight!! I myself have done some pretty amazing stuff with the rig and when I see comments that denounce it, its derogatory to me, personally. Yes, we take a risk at new technology - If your in the know - you know that the AR needed developments - if you've not handled it in the field then keep clear!!! Howard knows my issues with MK-V and the AR - I'm a patient person... The MK-V AR and or technology that embraces the movement of the camera deserves some patience!!! AGAIN - THIS STATEMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS ONLY A NEW WAY OF MOVING THE CAMERA!!!! Christopher TJ McGuire. www.ar-mcguire.com Where exactly did I call you a sucker Chris? You've been with and supported MK-V since the very early stages, which is fine. Even though you rightfully admit to it's flaws. Nobody said the AR's concept doesn't have the ability to make great shots, plugging shots in movies is irrelevant since that was not the topic at hand. I flew the original Alien with Lynn a couple years before the AR was even released and fully supported it as a great concept. It's not the concept that's the problem, it's the execution (which you even admit in the above post) and the company currently making it that is (if you, a guy that has been supporting MK-V and the AR from the beginning and lives a stones throw from Howard's UK office/beginnings can't get him to fix the issues, nevermind the customer service issues, employee issues, etc. who can)? Don't blame me Chris for the issues (I think the current, and former, owners of MK-V gear and ex-employees are speaking loud enough) and please don't put words into my mouth! You are apparently still upset with me for warning people about MK-V years ago even before the AR was released. I just choose not to do business or associate further with people who've lied to me (and many others), have poor customer service and apparently cheated many as well. If you want to, that's your choice. And on that "associate further" topic. I see no need to associate further with this thread. Thanks to the OP for bringing the situation to light. If people want to continue the mud slinging, that's their choice. I have no desire to partake further as it's no consequence to me either way and arguing is no fun. Cheers Edit: I have received an apology from Chris for misinterpreting my post and putting words into my mouth. His apology was accepted! Chris is currently not a sustaining member so even though he stated in several PM's to me he tried to edit and remove his comment he is currently unable too. Thanks for offering and trying Chris. Christopher TJ McGuire SOC
I'm very happy with my MK-V AR and am willing to talk to anyone off-forum about my experiences with the system. The AR goes from strength to strength in my own eyes and also I get excited to see it being used successfully by other guys right across the genres. If I can offer any advice please don't hesitate to contact me. Chris 'Can someone lend me $50 so I can be a sustaining member?) Premium Members Martin Stacey Posted March 19, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 Hi Guys Bottom line MK-V is here to stay! We simply streamlined 6 companies down to 3. Oh so you will be honouring all outstanding debts then will you. Including all judgments against you. Obviously there will be no problem if Mia prints this statement off and takes it to the creditors meeting then. Or will we suddenly find due to some IT error someone else has hacked your account in order to promote your business and it wasn't you. This thread is all very interesting - And enlightening. What? Have you only just realised that you're lies are being found out? If anyone would care for the FACTS - please contact me direct - howard@mk-v.com I'd like to know the facts as to why you lied to my face Howard and therefore cost yourself the sale of 2 more complete AR's. Feel free to respond. You have my email address (or has that been lost in another IT error)

Apologies for hogging space on your forum, chaps, but I'm sure you would want to know if one of your number were letting the side down badly. And thanks for the encouragement, all, much appreciated.
