Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted March 28, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2009 I'm on a show working with the F35 for the first time (haven't used the Genesis yet either, I've been lucky enough to have been able to avoid it since it's come out) and if you have to do a 170-180 foot walk and talk going pretty quickly up a ramp (about 5 feet wide) to a heliport on the 11th floor roof of a hospital that raises about 15-16 feet over that 170-180 feet with two 90 degree turns in it (one to the left, one to the right and the ramp got steeper after each turn going up) don't do what I did.....that is: Carry the F35 with the SRW recorder mount on it and all the toys (IDX Wireless HD transmitter, 3 batteries, sound sync box, Optima zoom, matte box with Pola and ND3 filter in it, etc. It will kick your ARSE! Especially if over the past 8-9 months you've used only the Red and Panavison Mill. XL and Arricam LT. The F35 in decked out mode feels as heavy as two Reds, what a tank! Even the 1st AC after taking the rig after the cuts was like, "man I don't think I've carried a camera this heavy in a long time." What a throw back to the old 535B and BL4 days. All was good for the first several takes but after 6-7 takes of doing singles, then two shots, it was painful, the thighs were a burnin. Haven't felt that kind of burn in many, many years.
