BNC Bloopers

Attached some BNC to the RED. The connection at the camera is on the back right side of the camera. I balanced the rig in order to accept the weight of the cable and maintain level. the rig is balanced although it wants to pan right. It doesn't roll or anything just pan. I tied the BNC off at my vest for seperation from the wrangler and gave myself a coulple of feet so it won't pull on the camera.

 

It is annoying but not affecting my operating. The slightest grip from my hand will knock it out. Am I doing something wrong?

I find it helps if you have a short lightweight BNC cable connected to the camera and ran to the gimbal (and taped on) with a barrel on the end. Then run another lightweight BNC cable from your gimbal along your arm (one small piece of tape on each arm segment) and attach it to the back of your vest with a velcro strap. This will allow whomever is wrangling cable to simply attach and detach away from the camera and also helps with balancing. The other plus is that you can now dock your rig, disconnect the BNC at the gimbal and your free to roam around the cabin...

 

Someone else might know of another trick though.

Call Terry West 310-374-5711, he made me some super tiny, kite string tiny, BNC's that are 75ohm and I use them all the time even for Triax conversion, of course the engineers wont touch the BNC but I have been for years. As far as the running of the cable, with this super small BNC, all you have to do is loop it from the back of the camera to your shoulder in the back of your vest with a barrel, secure the barrel, than attach a home run cable for your assistant to coil.
