Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 17, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 I was visiting the NAB website... and there he was... a familiar face looking at me... (kind of and to the right): Louis Puli. An add for Lemo... I hope they are compensating you well for the joke e-mail you will receive now. Are you getting your connectors now faster... like only three months lead time instead of six? Second job Model... It's always good to have a second job to fall back on, especially in these times... Was good to see you. Later, Erwin PS: Jim Bartell also got a free add out of it... NICE...

Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted April 17, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 Louis, nice pair of connectors! Jess, like most things in life you get what you pay for. I guess seeing photos are just one advantage of helping to support this great resource. The other is the ability to post items in the "for sale" category. Perhaps someday that will more than pay for your financial support.

Since there is no problem there is no "Fix"
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted April 17, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 I have no problem with paying to help support the great resource that is the steadicam forum and have been planning on doing it for some time. As far as the image thing goes I personally do see it as a problem and since it isn't mentioned as one of the advantages of being a member I feel that it is more of a bug than a feature. It seems strange to me that a regular member would be able to post pictures on the forum that everyone can see while a sustaining member has to store them on another server or else only sustaining members can see them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I will make no attempt to change yours. I do stand behind my statement that if this policy is changed I will gladly pony up the $50 and become a member right now. ~Jess
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted April 17, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 Jess, I wasn't even aware of this "bug." If that is the case, I propose that only sustaining members be able to post pictures at all. The obvious question for the forum members then becomes, do you need to be a sustaining member to view any picture? Cheers.
Tim Tyler
In fact there was a "bug". Apparently only sustaining members had "download" permissions in the General Discussion forum. That was unintentional. Now you only need to be a registered member to see/download images. I apologize for any confusion.
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 17, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 Hi Alec, It was news to me too. I had a couple of people contact me that they where not able to post pictures... I even had to sadly realize that some pix in older threads have disappeared. But it makes sense as it looks as if the space on the website is starting to get tight... Not a fan of the disappearing photos. I try to trim every pix that I post in Photoshop to a maximum physical size and minimum web size as well as "saving it for web" (low quality, but still easy viewable on the computer... makes shitty print outs). I guess that you can only post/view pix if you are in fact a sustaining member. Again I think that $50.- for a lifetime membership isn't that much really. And it helps Tim keep this website alive... a little price to pay, isn't it? But again I could be wrong.
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 17, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 And late again... So scratch the last post... exempt for the $50.- bucks...
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted April 17, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) Thanks for fixing it Tim! This has been a problem for a while and brought up in the support forum a while ago but I never got around to bugging the right people to get it fixed. I guess I owe you $50 now :-) Erwin-You can post pics without being a sustaining member you just don't have very much storage space to do it with. Now that the bug has been fixed anyone can view pictures even those posted by sustaining members. Sorry for the hijack. ~Jess Edited April 17, 2009 by Jess Haas
