Batteries on the Ultra 2

Thanks for the reply. I still need to know if the Power cube batteries are made by IDX they would match to which of the Endura series. The Endura Elite has a 136 Wh where as the power cubes say to 110W.

Thanks

Nitin,

The Power Cubes are made by IDX specifically for Tiffen and DO NOT match up to any of the Enduras (i.e. they are not merely relabeled batteries). Watt hours are one factor in the equation but amperage is the other. Thus, you may find that a given Endura actually has a higher watt hour rating but is not capable of providing the load (amps) of the Powercube. Depending on what you are powering this may or may not be an issue.

Here is some more info on the Powercubes: http://www.steadicam.com/images/content/09...rcube_11309.pdf

Alec beat me to the punch...

But anyways.

If you look at the up coming Anton Bauer Dionic HC (high Current) it's nominal is 85 Wh versus the Dionic 90 with is 90Wh...

Here a couple of posts from the archives that might be helpful:

You can get a similar performing battery from IDX. It's branded as Endura 10S HD.

Its specified as 6150mAh with 110W max load.

.

Tiffen specifies the PowerCube as 6000 mAh with 110W max load.

I would say that that is incorrect, Please correct me if I'm wrong

But to my knowledge the Power Cubes where a joint venture between IDX and Tiffen and Tiffen and it's dealers have an exclusive and are the only ones that are selling the battery with that specific cells and spec...

It might be similar but not the same battery.

"If it checks out, then this is relatively new"

Yes, IDX europe introduced them in june last year. Most likely a clause of the original agreement between Tiffen and IDX. (wild guess)

I have been running both on my U2 and RED one, since last year and they both perform as expected.

With anton bauer releasing the similar high current 6000mAh/110W battery, it would seem as the cells are indeed in general distribution.

As I reread my original reply, it did sound a little wack. What I ment was indeed only that you could get a similar performing battery from IDX that closely matches the Powercube. Not that it is 100% the same (although I would guess it is similar)

I have edited my original post :-)

Hmm....the 10s HD doesn't seem to be mentioned at all on the US site http://www.idxtek.com

Only the standard 10S 6300 mAh with 69W max load is mentioned.

But the 10S HD is right there on the UK site http://www.idx-europe.co.uk

Ok, so it seems like the HD version is only sold in Europe.
