Premium Members Bryan Fowler Posted April 28, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 We were talking about OLED's specifically, probably even standing in the Tiffen booth. It just goes to show, some people can sound like experts but they are actually full of it... I think it was the Marshall guys. I went to look at theirs as well. I was in a hurry, but I remember him saying there was backlight, but only 1/10th of the "normal" LCD. Maybe they don't require it, but can use it? Either way, it looked very good. It seemed that every OLD that I saw had crushed blacks, but I didn't try and mess with the controls, because I figured when I went to buy one, they would be better anyway. At least I hope that will be the case. Or.. I could be full of it. =)

Marshall OLED monitor As of today there are no OLED backlit LCD's. The technology is being explored. Besides for High Brightness you can't beat conventional LEDS. OLEDs are not that bright right now.
