Looking for a weight plate for Flyer

Hi,

I built a bar that clamps onto the camera rods that holds a standard gym weight on either side. I use two 1.25kg plates for small cams, Z1 sized etc. Works well, and it helps to triangulate the whasit thingy, and gives a stabilising effect, similar to antlers.

All it took was a few bits of steel and some bolts...

Pete.

Thanks Peter, do you have any pics? I received an email from another member with a schematic of a plate he designed which I might try to duplicate. This past weekend I used a ankle-weight securely fastened to the camera handle that really helped in making the rig behave in a more stable manner.

Thanks again

Not looking to take away work from anyone, but the first plate I had made was simply a piece of perfectly shaped steel I picked out of a scrap bin @ Industrial Metal Supply in Kearny Mesa and had the guy behind the counter drill several holes along the middle... 1/2 hour and $20 later, I had a weight plate... If you need something quick, that's a decent solution.

Jason,

Janice Arthur sells 6.5 and 11 pound weight plates in the Steadicam Marketplace on this forum. Drop her an email and she will send pictures of them. I bought a 6.5 lb plate from her for my flyer and it works great! Just used it yesterday while shooting stunt motorcycles and plan to use it today on a shoot I have.

Cheers,

Keith
