Stephen Press
:D Can you imagine what they director was saying in the controlroom though? “Can’t you go faster, your half a beat out… Watch your levels… wait camera shadow! Camera shadow!!! Where did we get this guy?” Seriously awesome work. Just awesome!

Danny O'Neill
Im feeling out of breath for the poor focus puller who had to run, pull focus, zoom, focus and stay out of the way. I bet after that move he went off stage and chugged down another pint of nails. Must be what he eats to fuel those balls of steel.
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted May 16, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2009 do you think that might have been the guy controlling the segway and not the focus puller? I'd be even more impressed (if that's possible) if the op was stopping on a dime and dismounting at that speed all by his lonesome! rb

Since it was the focus puller it was pretty silly of him to run beside it the whole way then go up on stage...I guess that's why he's paid the big bucks...can't judge focus unless he's right on top of you! Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted May 17, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 17, 2009 Even my ass clinched watching it! Ron you can't do that... you would suck in the controls and get stuck... you should know that!

Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted May 18, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 18, 2009 Absolutely stunning. As has already been stated - it's another innovation. Crane step-off, quad bike, Handsfree...and now a Handsfree step-off (run-off!) The 'behind the scenes' clip of this from the rehearsals looks incredible - just stunning. If you look carefully, there's a guy who runs out to catch / remove the Segway after the Operator dismounts. I'm sure we'd all love to know more about this and how it was achieved. I'm also wondering exactly how he managed to dismount at speed...sounds like a modification - and a hell of a lot of rehearsal. Amazing. Incredible frame right from the kick-off.
