We ran into a few delays with agency approvals, so it looks like we we start shipping the Dionic HC batteries the last week of June or the first week of July. Sorry about the delay... Please see my not about discounted pricing on ProFormers if you need them also...... And, lastly, I will personally be attending the Tiffen/Steadicam Swap Meet and Open House on Thursday, June 4th, so I hope to see you guys there. I will have a prototype Dionic HC with me if anyone wants to see, feel, play with it. And, we will also have a booth at CineGear Expo. Thanks. The original PRO 2 was designed around the Compac Magnum's then Anton Bauer dropped them / rehoused them into the Trimpac... So they PRO 2 was redesigned to use the Hytron... Then everybody was starting to use the Proformers for Highspeed... Again the Battery cage was modified to work with that... Then the Proformers went away and everybody wanted to use the Trimpacs... now it's the Dionic HC... new cages will be able to handle the new batts, actually the HC's fit just fine unless you use the XCS PDL and/or the Recorder mount, GPI received a dummy battery from Anton Bauer and is in the Process of redesigning the risers for the Recorder mount to accommodate again the new batteries... Give'em a chance to adapt, and throw away a box of recorder mounts... Always a joy to discard perfectly good parts... BTW: the HC fits under the Recorder Mount, you just have to unscrew the mount every time you change the AKS batt... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ironically it's been all film (you remember that stuff) so I haven't experienced them with a monster power drain camera yet but I am assuming similar performance to the Power Cubes. I ran into some HCs on a job recently & they fit both my back mounts fine (recorder mount on). Couldn't fit one on the front though because my XCS level. Sitting in the B-camera lounge tonight and reading this. Just went and put one of the camera's HCs on the sled to retest. Again, it clears my recorder mount fine. Maybe a custom holding box for the cart or stand? Although I could be wrong, Charles has modified his modified sled every time I see him. As for the HC's, I too have had them for a couple months now, I am very happy with them. They fit both of the rear positions on my PRO II battery rack (with recorder mount installed) and they now fit the front position after relocating my XCS level. I ended up having Jack tap and mount it directly to the top half of my battery rack. I'll take a picture tomorrow if you want. This new position actually gets the level closer to center and it's slightly easier to reach the buttons. Only down-side is that it has to be removed to access a couple of the screws that hold the top and bottom of the battery module together. Not a big deal since how often does one really open this up? The Dionic HCs are simply piece of mind. The first job I had with them was a commercial with a 435 running 60-120 fps all day. After awhile the ACs and I just stopped thinking about the batteries. For HD hogs like the Genesis, they are good too, but I feel that an operator would need a ton of them to make it though a long day, too many for an operator to practically own. So as before, when doing HD I get additional batts from he rental house. I've never had an issue with that. I should also mention that Paul and Kyle and everyone at Anton/Bauer is and was super-helpful in making the transition to these new batteries. They made sure that my chargers got updated and serviced and were really on top of it. Great Steadicam Operator pricing too! Since my Dionic 90s are still relatively young, I have not made the switch to HCs for my own inventory. Would love to see your pictures of the level though (Steve Fracol's nifty sled foot also would make me move my level so I need ideas - and time!). I remember mounting my own XCS level and making sure it was clean of the forward battery just in case some dimensions changeds in the future. My recorder rack clears fine, it was the proformer rack when it was new. I switched to trimpacks for 435 work and went without a recorder for those shots... So far so good. I agree that the high draw cameras need additional rental batteries to avoid burning up both the dionics and the sled wiring...We are all pushing more power than the pins are rated for on these cameras. I just had an incident where my superpost didn't connect up and when i went ot check it, the lemo kinda exploded, and the crimped pins shot out everywhere, and the TB-6 went down simultaneously..... So switching to soldered pins, locktite on the lemo cap, and a new Transvideo 6 monitor ordered for HD work and the TB-6 in for repair and discussion for its fate... The camera ( thompson ldk300 with sd transmitterdeck ) is normally equipt with the dionic 90. A dionic 90 in good shape will hold around 40 to 45 minuts. After that, the camera shuts down. The hc's however kept going for 2 hours and 15 minuts before it went down. Tomorrow i gonna use them on the wireless HD ( ldk8000 with hd transmitterdeck ) Thats drains a dionic 90 empty in 25 minuts. Lets see what happends with the hc The weigth is almost the same, and the weigt distribution is even better on the HC. if i switch from dionic 90 to the HC, i have to correct the side by side balance.
