David Williams Posted May 30, 2009 Report Share Posted May 30, 2009 My EX3 has a BNC for composite out, the EX1 also has composite out but I'm can't remember the plug type. You can set letterbox, squeeze or edge crop, overlay on or off. It won't output peaking or zebras. There is a plastic cover covering several connectors. The one you need is the A/V out and a cable comes with the camera to plug in. The other end of the cable is A/V RCA. Stick an RCA to BNC adapter on the video end and you are good to go! Almost... The camera will only output from this connector when the SDI/HDSDI output is turned off. Which means you cannot get an HD signal at the same time as the SD. Not a problem for you, but if they wanted to tether you for director's monitor it'll have to be SD (and split off the one output) There is only one menu in the camera that lists video outputs. I think YPrBr Out is the menu item you are ultimately looking for. The options are HDSDI, SDI, Off. Once you turn it off you are good to go. As Brian said, you have to enter to the menu to get composite video. (Take care with the cable because the weight of the connector can bent down and dammage the conector of the camera) Check the "steadyshot" of the camera. Sounds easier than I thought...glad that I don't need a downconverter! I will actually use it with a lens adapter and lenses so it will be a little heavier... best jerry.
