Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted July 21, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 21, 2009 Okay, here's a set of photos from the Shootout sent to me by Ron Baldwin to host and post. I'm just posting them for Ron so don't shoot the messenger. They have been scanned though for the dreaded L1S1G Lisigav Virus Strain and are certified clean at this point. Ron... I guess you can narrate in a separate post?

Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted July 21, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 21, 2009 thanks for posting the pics Robert. They are just snapshots to help my failing memory. I didn't make an effort to be "scientific" about it knowing a photographer was there documenting the day. You have to see them in person to really make an informed decision, but the pictures do help put some things in perspective. Thanks again to Charles for getting this done. rb
Premium Members Chris Espenan Posted July 24, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 I received my RIG last week with HD/SDI upgrade, I have also the 6,5' Transvideo Superbright, and this monitor is the best I ever seen, I'm in south of France and the Sun is like you not very friendly with new monitors technology. The picture is clear, with a good contrast. the cable build by C.Betz from Germany works perfectly, I also have the Level buble from my Rig inside my monitor,I can used the level tools both. all is great. Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted July 24, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 Interesting NebTek mounted their monitor upside down too. I still have not seen the NebTek but I did get a look at one of the Marshalls the other day on a test bench and it didn't seem to have any form of "polarization viewing angle issues top to bottom.. maybe it was not coated yet? Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted July 24, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 Chris, I'm glad you live in a romantic place -- it makes being in love with your monitor and sled that much sweeter. Interesting NebTek mounted their monitor upside down too.Robert the Nebtek had the same issue the Transvideo did as far as viewing angle. Rumor has it that Nebtek is flipping the lcd panel in their future runs because this issue was brought to their attention at the shootout. I liked the Marshall monitor too, it was a 6.5" 4x3 so the image was a bit smaller than the others (and wicked cheap in comparison) but it's still about the same as what I'm used to which is nice. I'm not really a believer in bigger is better when it comes to monitors on a steadicam...anything bigger than 7" diag is too big for me (that whole old dog/new trick analogy). rb
Premium Members Jerry Franck Posted July 25, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 hey Robert, thanks for posting the pictures...couldn't attend that day so I'm happy to see some pix. my question, what are those two monitors next to the Nebtek in the last picture of batch 2? thanks for clarifying.. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted July 25, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 at the top of this page in the 1st wide shot, the monitors are from left to right: the Bulgarian mystery monitor, Blackbird, 7" Nebtek (600 nits?), Nebtek Solar7H (1000 nits?), the Boland 8" and Boland 6.5", Pro, TB-6, the Transvid HD. continuing with the second wide shot: to the right of the Transvid HD is the Cinemonitor3 HiBrite, Tiffen OLED, Tiffen Ultrabright, and the Marshall 651ST rb **forgot to mention that the Marshall 651ST was swapped with the lower nit Nedtek for a side by side comparison between the 1000 nit Nebtek, the Marshall and the Blackbird. So the order is different in some of the pictures from later in the day.
Premium Members Nikolay Kerezov Posted July 25, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 "Bulgarian mystery monitor" Hey Ron, Why mystery? Ask questions if you need something ,I'm working on 7" model and cheaper version on the that one. Best !
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted July 25, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 25, 2009 making a joke...don't get your panties in a twist -- we all knew what it was. It had the same menus as the Bolands but a better coating on the screen so an image could actually be seen!
Premium Members Nikolay Kerezov Posted July 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 27, 2009 making a joke...don't get your panties in a twist -- we all knew what it was. It had the same menus as the Bolands but a better coating on the screen so an image could actually be seen! You got me wrong."Mystery monitor" sounds even good for me! In fact why "Boland"s menu why not "Tiffen"s,we are just using the same main board with the same firmware. Another fact is that the LCD panel in my monitor is ways more than a better coated,it's the top of the line right now. For those who wants same monitor can be made with the same LCD panel as "Blackbird/Lumavec" Best!
