...Every time I'm exited to shear with you guys something about the development of the monitor I'm planning to make,almost immediately someone turns the direction towards Transvideo,even if there is no post in the section from half a year...

 

Hey Nikolay, I wasn't trying to deflect your post or your new monitor it all; I posted because I just bought the Transvideo SBL Evolution two weeks ago after about ten months of looking for something better for MY tastes. It had nothing to do with your post.

 

Ultimately I kept coming back to the Transvideo as comparison in LCDs. MY tastes/interests did not include the TB6 / green screens. Even though they have an edge in the daylight viewing, I just cannot seem to wrap MY brain around a green image, but my brain is not as soft and flexible as Ron's. :rolleyes:

 

Plus this topic was beat like a dead horse and most people are burned out on it.

Nikolay: for most of us, customer service is a critical part of equipment ownership. Once you set up shop, you may end up being the most attentive manufacturer ever but for a lot of US operators, having to ship their monitor out of country to a one-man company who is also working as an operator is potentially going to be an issue. Over the years a number of individuals have posted here with specs of their proposed monitors, to the point where I think we are all burned out as Robert says with the prospect of having to think about this. Once products finalize (at least on performance), then it's easier to get people excited. The reason that there was a buzz about the Nebtek and the Transvideo transflective was they were as viewable as the other products that were two to three times as expensive (not better, but equally viewable). If there had been a panel that bested all of them or even approached the viewability of the green screens, that would have been the obvious winner (notice I'm saying viewability, not brightness). To be very honest, the version of your panel that was at the Shootout did not seem as viewable in sun as either of those two--it was essentially in the middle of the pack (but still above a few of the domestic ones). So regardless of whether you are using the same panel, the consensus was that the results were different.

 

It's not to say you shouldn't pursue manufacturing your monitor but your price point is similar to the Marshall, and that is a company that has an existing service infrastructure (and is located half an hour from LA), so therein lies the rub. There are going to be a certain number of operators for whom price is the most important factor and no doubt you will sell amongst that crowd. Once you've got a few satisfied owners to post here, that should get the ball rolling.

As "fund investor" ,I meant that the things are growing.I'm not going to make those myself for shore.I'm just the one giving ideas and saying what we need.There will be company for this.

We already have 5 models and working on others.

Right now finding a representive company in US is one of our priorities .

You know well that what the monitor shows at the shootout was not 100%.That same monitor is property of Nacho Ramos from the first day the monitor came back to Europe and I belive that he is very happy.

LOL I was three pages into it before I realized when it was originally posted. I thought it seemed a little dated. I wish there was a shootout in 2012. I'm in need of a good daylight monitor and don't know where to start. What would be considered the best non CRT monitors at this time?

Sadly, less has changed than you might think. The most notable exception would be the Cinetronics. Search the forum. Upon seeing the monitor shoot out three years ago, my conclusion was stick to the Green Screens because none of the LCDs were good enough (the Nebteck 7" was the best LCD at the time but still was not nearly as good as a TB-6). The Cinetronics is what has since gotten me to hang my Green Screen up.

I got a Marshal on ebay for under a grand. I've never had any issue seeing it in full sun, even with it's stupid glossy screen...

One thing the Monitor Shootout demonstrated (as intended) is that monitors are quite subjective and it's not until you place them next to each other that the real truth comes out. Many who have done a blind taste test of beer, wine etc. is usually rather shocked when they find out that they may have rated the brand they swear by much lower than ones they would have never considered before. Brand loyalty is a blinding factor that can be in direct opposition to actual quality. At the Shootout, we learned many things about the then-current LCD's but also some very interesting things about the CRT's as well. While all could easily see that the green screens were better, there were quite a few PRO or TB6 loyalists who were surprised to see how one stacked against the other.

 

Bottom line is that if one considers viewability to be the most important factor in a monitor (assuming a standard level of reliability and features), then there may well be only one choice. But the only way to know that is to view the displays under the same conditions with the same source. Maybe time for another shootout! If that miscreant R. Baldwin doesn't run off to NYC on another gig (and since it will keep him away from Jumbo's, it may actually be a good idea since the Treasury is running out of dollar bills), I have designs on us pulling off the Great Transmitter Debacle this summer and it would be easy enough to fold in a mini-monitor comparison at the same time.

I agree with Charles, and I would like to suggest a few other factors that might make one monitor "better" in the eyes of a beholder, and therefore should be included in a "shootout."

 

Anti-reflection coatings. I lot of monitors will burn your eyes if you get a direct reflection from the sun or a 10K. This is a big issue in my book. (as David said, "stupid glossy screen")

 

Software: depending on where and how you shoot, you may find one brand of software is better for your situation.

 

Mounting options. Powering options. Input options. Price. Artificial horizon and display. Screen size (some like it bigger, some like it smaller). Weather protection. more??
